The thought of being able to make components from steel in such a way that they satisfy the requirements of modern construction methods by being thin, resilient and economical fascinated us so much that we could not get it out of our minds.

Since Evosteel was founded in 2003, the process for manufacturing thin-walled cast steel components has been the “star turn” on our company’s stage.  The development work has resulted in components with minimum wall thicknesses, starting from only 1.5 mm.  As a result, we are positioning ourselves worldwide way below the economical process limit of conventional steel casting and creating a completely new range of applications for steel, using the low-pressure 3cast® casting process.

We set ourselves the task of optimising this process up to the point where it could be used in mass production and achieved this goal in 2007.  With the opening of the first 3cast® mass-production facilities in 2007, Evosteel is beginning a new period in its history.  During the first phase of expansion a production capacity of 25,000 components per year is achievable.  This is also the first stage in building up the factory into a large-scale production line.  The plan is to implement this project step-by-step by 2012, at which point the production capacity will be in line with the expected market requirement for over 500,000 components per year.

The company has access to the structures of its parent company, Stahl- und Hartguss Bösdorf GmbH (SHB) in Leipzig.  Other advantages include the good infrastructure of the location to the south of Leipzig and the excellent logistical links.
