AREAS OF APPLICATION
Using the 3cast® process, Evosteel GmbH is extending the range of applications for steel casting to include components with minimum wall thicknesses of only 1.5 mm.
As a result, for the first time it is easily possible to integrate complex cast steel nodes into bodywork structures using established joining methods such as spot-welding. At the same time, by making full use of the almost unlimited design freedom, the load transmission in the cast node is guaranteed to be ideal and with no need for any additional joining points.
In this way intricate subassemblies can be substituted by a single cast component featuring optimum load and deformational behaviour at high dynamic stress levels – at the same time offering the possibility of reducing the finished size and weight.
